"Student Nurse seeing things from "the other side""

I am a student nurse who has had most my placements in the vale of leven hospital. As a student I have found each of my placements excellent, great teaching methods and excellent caring staff.

I attended yesterday as a patient so got to see things from 'the other side' and the care I received was fantastic, from my first outpatient appointment, pre assessment clinic, sdbu and theatres, covering a range of grades of staff. Each person treated me as an individual, made my care feel important to them and made me feel comfortable with providing confidential information.

I felt the care was excellent and there is nothing more they could have done to improve anything as it was first class from start to finish. The education alone from this hospital is fantastic, and as a patient my experience was outstanding.

I also got to experience how daunting it can be to present for surgery and hopefully that will make me more aware of other patients experiences in the future. I can only hope I make as good a nurse someday as some of the other nurses that currently work in the vale, there are so many fantastic caring nurse's there that are a constant inspiration. Thank you to you all.
