I've just had my second baby at St Helier, and cannot fault the delivery ward staff. I was induced and had a fairly hard labour, but my midwife was absolutely amazing - so kind, encouraging and supportive. The midwife made a huge difference and was so lovely. After their shift ended a student midwife and another midwife helped me get showered and sorted before I moved to the post natal ward, and they were amazing too. They are such a great team, everyone was really friendly and nice, which is just what you need when having a baby!
I think the teams on the antenatal and postnatal wards are very busy, and it does take a while to get all the paperwork sorted to leave postnatal, but everyone does try to get you out as soon as they can if you are keen to go home. But as I say, on the delivery ward I felt I got really personal support, and couldn't have asked for anything more. I also had a very good experience with my first baby, when I used the birth centre, and afterwards I stayed in the centre's individual post natal room, which is really nice.
I've had home visits from a St Helier team midwife since having my baby and they have been lovely too, and helped me so much with breastfeeding.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend St Helier's maternity team, they work really hard, and make such a difference to Mums and babies.
Thank you to everyone who looked after me and my baby, I really do appreciate you all!
