I know I'm not writing a story but....

It all started at a doctors appointment a month or so ago, found an unusual mark, not even a mole, lot smaller. Went to my Southbourne GP, the doctor wasn't concerned but referred me. A week later I got an appointment at Christchurch hospital, a consultant saw me, with a trainee doctor, they were very thorough, looked at my leg mark and checked the rest of my body including the under feet! The doctor wanted the mark removed immediately, I waited for about an hour and went in to surgery had it removed and thoroughly dressed. The results came back about 14 days later, brought back in to unfortunate news it was melanoma. Fully explained with a cancer specialist nurse what would happen next, more surgery etc. Wasn't scared as they covered everything. 2 weeks later, in again to Christchurch dermatology, revision surgery to take more away as government guideline precautions recommend.

Difficult surgery on the shin apparently (only part of my body with no fat!,) now recovering at home.

My point is, under 6 weeks, I have seen, 1 GP doctor, 2, specialists, 2 surgeons, 5 theatre nurses, 1 cancer specialist nurse, 1 junior doctor. 1 wound nurse at the hospital for re-dressing.1 practice nurse for stitches removal. Very pleasant appointment staff and god knows the amount of admin and lab staff behind the scenes.

Well done Christchurch hospital and Beafort road GP surgery. You are the the positive professional side of the NHS that more people should be highlighting. Thank you all.
