My partner had our baby girl on 20.06.16, she was referred on the Thursday, induced on the Friday, gave birth on the Monday, left on the Tuesday, sent back in by the cummunuty midwife on the Thursday due to high blood pressure which she left with originally, back out on the Friday, midwife due to visit Saturday, no show so had to ring and go to Pgi to have bp checked!
Pros-
Doctors - fantastic but over worked so takes ages to see one.
Cleaners / healthcare workers - couldn't be any better, polite, caring, a credit to themselves.
Midwifes - 25% of them were fantastic, very thorough, caring and helpful.
Cons-
Midwifes - 75% of them were rude, disrespectful and gave the impression you were in the way being there. 1 was shockingly poor at their job and instilled no confidence in their ability.
Comments made by them over the days she was in: "people in labour are more important than you" (twice), "do you suffer with anxiety?" Having asked a question to a midwife?
"You still here?"
"(Silence)", left in a room for 2 hours when bp was high and due to checked every 15mins, when I asked it was checked twice in 5minute?
Partner had an epidural which did not work and no more drugs offered, day after the consultant came and found her to ask about it, and then apologised! A bit late afterwards.
All in all a shocking horrible experience when it should have been a happy occasion with the feeling of care from staff members. The feeling now at home is one of being totally let down at a time when the opposite should be felt. I would not recommend this hospital for maternity services to my worst enemy.
Mid yorkshire trust - do not bother with your patronising remarks below this review, we will be in touch and taking this matter further.
