"Flexible Sigmoidoscopy - 23/6/16"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

It was my first time of having a sigmoidoscopy and was quite nervous of the unknown.

I have complicated health problems with a rare disease which most doctors are not familiar with which was concerning me more than anything else.

All the staff took time to find out what it was about and how to deal with it should a problem arise.

I was treated so well from start to finish.

The two nurses in the room with me were just so lovely and I can't give them enough praise along with the person doing the endoscopy.

After the procedure I was taken along to have a cup of tea and a sandwich but unfortunately they did not have any gluten free one so they kindly went out of their way to track down one for me.

I was so grateful as I was really hungry and had to stablelise my blood sugar levels.

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for treating me so well, you are doing a fantastic job.

Dear Ms. Trussell

Many of the comments we receive relate to the positive experience patients have had when attending our Endoscopy Unit and it is rewarding to hear that yours was no exception to this trend.

It is encouraging to know that each patient is routinely treated as an individual with nursing staff engaging patients to understand and address their worries and fears in an appropriate manner and making sure you feel safe and at ease throughout the procedure.

We apologise that your dietary requirements were not addressed sooner but pleased the staff did everything they could to correct this and provide you with a suitable alternative.

Your feedback will be passed on to the Sister to share with her team who I know will be delighted they were able to make your visit a positive experience.

We thank you again for your feedback and wish you well.

Regards

Sue Mellor

Head of Patient Engagement
