What I liked

A & E Care was spot on Staff the doctor and students were attentive, informative and showed empathy, kept us up to date as to what was and would happen next, top marks to them.

What could be improved

The care and attention after referral from A & E,

One Doctor tending to a set number of patients, nurses nursing, auxilarys in the back ground!

I took my partner to A&E with chest pains on Mon 22 Feb at 10:00am after having pains from Fri 19th, her Doctor had already diagnosed suspected Angina! A&E staff were great, ECGs, blood tests, pain killers and keeping notes/charts, they certainly knew what they were doing and this was whilst showing student nurses different procedures. A Doctor arrived and did the diagnosis, ordered a x-ray and administered a blood thinning agent as they suspected a clot, because of this a scan was ordered and so my partner was referred. On medical assessment things worsened, people were lining corridors in chairs and trolleys, there was no sign of nursing staff, it was like a dumping ground, the only attentive person there was the porter, they showed more care and empathy than anyone and should be given credit.

In all 4 Doctors saw my partner and all asked the same monotonous questions ie " how is the pain from 1 to 10 " . One doctor did give her an acid tablet and said " if the pain is still there in 10 mins let me know " and was never seen again, and yes the pain was and still is there. The last "Doctor" was very smarmy and arrogant, trying to put the blame on drinking wine, but when told that the pain was there before any drinking of wine they just gave a smug laugh, they really needs to go to patient management classes, they then dismissed all what any other Doctor and her GP had said and told her to go home, there was nothing wrong! One of the nurses did interject with " And how is she getting home " but again this was dismissed". My partner got changed and as she was about to leave another nurse said " We have a bed for you now ", unbelievable! As my partner was leaving the ward, obviously upset and bewildered, a nurse ran after her to take the cannula out of her arm, good job too, she would probably have been prosecuted for stealing hospital property. No scan was taken, no real Diagnosis given and my partner is still in pain today, Hospital, Hospice or cattle market?
