"Poor Service at Contraceptive Clinic"

About: Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter has autism and a learning difficulty. I have accompanied her to the Oak Tree Lane Clinic in Mansfield for a number of years. Recently, the service has undergone changes resulting in a variety of problems.

We have been unable to book a regular appointment 10 weeks in advance. There have been no keys available for the equipment cabinet and yesterday, we arrived to be told our appointment was an hour earlier. I asked if we could wait and the receptionist said we could but expect a long wait. The receptionist's attitude prompted me to return home and collect the appointment card to show them we had the right time. They repeated several times, 'I can only go on what's on here', meaning the computer. Their lack of compassion or empathy made me very upset as it is quite stressful getting my daughter to the appointments anyway. I pointed out how belittled I felt and they did say 'I apologise for that' but without any real concern. Administrative mistakes I can overlook but rudeness is not acceptable. I get the impression the staff, particularly the receptionist staff who are on rotation now for that clinic I believe, are not happy with the new arrangements and this shows in their attitude towards their patients. We will not be using that clinic again which is unfortunate as the doctors there have always been very kind and understanding.
