"Endoscopy Unit. A Very Busy Department."

About: Kettering General Hospital

I have attended the endoscopy unit twice within the last six weeks following surgery for bowel cancer and although a very busy unit I found the staff to be caring and considerate. Indeed my first visit some six weeks ago the member of staff who collected me from reception remembered what name I like to be addressed by (a very unusual name by the way) and it was some five years since I was last there. The procedure is not a very dignified experience but I have never felt ill at ease due to the know how of the staff making me feel at ease. As I've stated a very busy department but all staff have time for a smile or reassuring word. That department is a credit to Kettering General Hospital and the NHS. May I add that due to my illness I have visited many departments, wards, chemo suite etc and without exception the treatment I have received by everyone has been of the highest order.

Many many thanks for all your efforts.

Response from Kettering General Hospital

On behalf of the Endoscopy Team, I would like to extend our thanks to you for your positive comments regarding the care that you received whilst being a patient with us recently.

As a unit we strive to make every patient’s journey through our department as positive an experience as possible.

Many of our patients have been frequent visitors to the department for a number of years and often the administration and clinical teams will recognise familiar faces.

We hope that a smile and warm welcome will help put our patients at ease.

All the staff and teams involved with your care have been notified of your positive comments through our weekly team meetings. As a department we welcome all the comments that we receive as we continually work towards the improvement of the services that we provide to our patients.
