"Knee operation"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had my pre op and was given a date for surgery. The orthopaedic ward very efficient. However the op was cancelled. Rang in May and told the op would probably be in June. Did not receive any notification so rang again and was told I still did not have a date. Why am I being bumped down the list? I would have thought I would not have to wait too long.

Response from The Princess Royal Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to feedback with regards your delays to your operation. Unfortunately, due to emergency procedures and urgent cases, it is sometimes necessary to cancel operations and re-book them. I am sorry that you were delayed in your operation but I hope that by now you have had your procedure and you are recovering well.

If, however, you have any further concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the Princess Royal who will be able to assist you.

Kind Regards,

Patient Experience Team

Update posted by Good and bad (the patient)

Thank you for replying, the system really works. I had my operation in August and have recovered well. The treatment I received was excellent. Mr Wagner was my surgeon and I cannot praise him enough. We are lucky to have such an excellent surgeon. The nursing staff on the ward were very attentive and took time out to talk to you when they could. The food was also very good always hot and varied menu. The ward was also very clean. Last but not least a big thank you to the physio staff on the ward. They were very encouraging and got me walking in no time. Also a special thanks to Jan in the knee clinic. If I had a negative view it would be the bookings dept. Double booked appointments was only one of the things I could name but there where other things as well. Thank you Princess Royal Hospital.
