"My son's reaction to his vaccine at school"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was given the Meningococcal Vaccine at school yesterday, together with several boosters. On arriving home he had a rash to his back and trunk, which was clearly spreading.

I telephoned Dr. Clarke's practice at 5pm and was welcomed by a friendly receptionist and was told to bring him to the surgery for 5. 20pm. He was seen at 5. 20pm by Dr. Cox, who confirmed an allergic reaction to the vaccine and was given Anti-histamine and provided reassurance to both myself and son.

I found this service to be excellent.

Hi Amy14,

Thanks for getting in touch with us with such a positive experience. I'm glad your son was seen so quickly and you were both reassured by your local GP.

Our Primary Care Manager, Alistair Mackintosh has read your story also and has passed on your comments to the Practice. They were delighted to hear that you found their service excellent and will let Dr Cox know.

Many thanks again and I hope your son has recovered today.

Take care
