"All the Staff in Clinic D.... ..."

About: Lister Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

All the Staff in Clinic D.... Such great caring people with positive outlook! A real asset to your hospital

What could be improved

I would like to know why there are not more Disabled Parking Spaces at Lister Hospital. We took our Son to Outpatients on Thursday... he is registered disabled but there was no available spaces.... so we had to park in the normal carpark... Can you confirm that the available disabled spaces meet government guidelines and if not.. Why Not?

Anything else?

I understand that the hospital is currently undergoing major construction, but you could imrpove the road signage... the way into and out of the Car Park is confusing.... Take a drive / walk around and experience it for yourselves!!

In my opinion, hospital management rarely look at the facilities from a patient or visitor point of view and become complacent with the surroundings / environment!!!

I would be happy to provide more feedback

Thanks for your feedback. Actually there is a lot that we can tell you, which we hope you will find helpful.

With regard to the designated parking bays for people with a disability, national guidance requires that 6% of public parking spaces should be designated for blue badge holders. This is a standard that is met by the Lister, but our plan for a new multi-storey car park - construction will begin on this in the summer - will see us having around 130 such bays - which is well in excess of government guidance currently. The new car park is scheduled to open in mid-2011.

With regard to site signage, we do have a team of staff looking at this issue constantly - which has staff side representation, as well as input from the Trust's patient’s panel. There is no doubt that we can do better and we keep these issues under constant review.
