"Not happy with all the waiting around"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I came into the hospital with severe abdominal pain and moderate bleeding after a termination, I wasn't waiting in a&e long and was seen pretty quick, I was then taken up to the early pregnancy unit after a few tests I was told it was best to stay in overnight due to an infection. There was 2 Staff on that night the night ward sister (shana the ward sister and the student nurse jhonalyn) I can honestly say did a phenomenal job looking after me I didn't really want to stay overnight and was a bit upset.  The day staff were also very caring and friendly and did apologise that I was waiting around so long, 2 day staff exceeded themselves dealing with a very busy ward (Wendy and Steph). These 4 members of staff are a true credit to this hospital.

Unfortunately this isn't going to end on a high note, waiting around for hours for a doctor to come and see me and discharge me, the day staff told me that the doctor would see me in about 30-40 mins, hours have passed and I am still waiting in the ward to be discharged the night nurse have tried to bleep the doctor but no respone, I do understand that they are very busy people but this is just a complete joke! ! I am not happy with all the waiting around and I'm sure the beds, as another patient is waiting around could be used for other people. Joke! !

Dear Keelmuzz

Thank you for taking the time to post this comment about your experience, I am pleased to hear that your experience of the nursing team was what we would have expected.

I am though sorry to hear about the long waits you had to see the doctors and I understand how this is frustrating. We are at the moment short of middle grade doctors and they are being stretched across a number of areas. To help resolve this we have recruited a number of additional doctors and they will be joining the team over the next couple of months. I am though sorry that the current shortage had an adverse impact upon your recent experience with us.

I hope that you are making a speedy recovery.
