I would like to thank all involved in my successful tonsillectomy on 1st June, a long awaited for procedure. I am extremely grateful to all staff (especially the skilled surgeon who carried out the surgery - its healing up very nicely now). I would like to give special mention to my anaesthetist who I met with before the surgery and who I felt I could put my confidence in completely. He was very reassuring, informative without telling me too much unnecessarily, and very likeable. I think his name was Oliver or Oscar.
I would also like to thank in particular the two theatre staff who looked after me in recovery. Having never had surgery before I was a little panicky at times during the 'waking up' stage and they were both very calming and reassuring. I felt very well looked after. I believe one of the gentlemen was a student, and I remember hearing people telling him that his shift had finished and it was time to go home. His response was that he would go home once he had taken me to the next recovery area and handed over - I'm not sure how long he stayed after his shift had finished but I appreciated this very much. I believe his name was Stephen.
Thank you to all staff and to our wonderful NHS for enabling me to have this surgery. I am hopeful that it will make such a difference and extremely grateful. QA is doing a marvellous job and even if the media like to portray differently, the vast majority of people are like me - full of thanks and grateful for the help and care we receive.
"Marvellous job from all at Day Surgery for Tonsillectomy"
