"A&E visit"

About: Poole General Hospital

I took my 11 month old to A&E because whilst toddling, he had fallen and hit his head on our coffee table, resulting in a very bruised nose and a nosebleed. I telephoned NHS Direct who were really good.and sent me to A&E. The receptionist was lovely and didn't make me feel like an idiot mother for allowing my baby to get hurt. The service was fast. All the staff were lovely, but especially the doctor that saw my little boy. They were so good with him, made him laugh and checked that I was totally happy with their diagnosis and suggested course of action. They put me at ease quickly and managed to be relaxed yet professional- just what you want when you're upset because your child is in pain. I was so impressed. Also, the fact that there is a children's waiting room is brilliant as it enabled my husband to occupy our two year old with lots of fun toys. Otherwise it would have been hell trying to keep him amused whilst waiting for the doctor. Thank you to the A&E department.
