"cancellation of hip operation 3 times"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a friend),

My friend, an 82 year old lady has been given three admission dates. The first was cancelled, the second the hospital omitted to tell her to stop taking one of her drugs and the third admission, although she had sat in the hospital for seven hours, cancelled because there were no high dependency beds. She was treated kindly by staff and put in a taxi and sent home. Friends then had to help her as they do all the time. Her family are not around and she lives alone. She is in such horrendous pain unable hardly to walk across her lounge, sleep or sit in a chair comfortably.

I am very sorry to hear your friends experience of our service and would like to investigate this further. If you or your friend could contact me at eleanor.kinch@sash.nhs.uk with some more details we can investiagte and ensure that this experience is not repeated.
