About: Hertford County Hospital

When I was given my prescription for my new medication, I went to many chemists and not one of them could read it, I went to my GP surgery and they said that I need to have my written notes sent to my GP by fax. I am a full time unpaid carer looking after my elderly parents and I have to put up with more problems just because a doctor can't write a prescription clearly. It looks like someone dipped a spider into ink and let it run across the prescription. Once again the poor patient has to suffer. Please sort this problem out, I don't want to go through this again. I have lots of problems with the NHS to do with my parents, I don't need this, I work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year without a holiday or rest. Doctors and nurses don't do that, they couldn't but I have to. I am registered with Carers in Hertfordshire (member). The NHS needs to look after us Carers a bit better because we are all un - sung heroes of this country.

Response from Hertford County Hospital

We're really sorry that this happened - we our real supporters of carers, recognising their importance and the challenges they face.

That is why we developed our carers strategy, which has been supported by a number of local groups - including Carers in Hertfordshire, with whom we work closely.

With regard to your prescription it does sound like we managed to make things more difficult for you, for which we apologise.

Although it sounds like the matter got resolved in terms of getting the prescription fulfilled, we would like to get the matter followed up so that other patients do not have the same problem - would you mind getting in touch via our general enquiries email service (generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net) so that we can do just that?
