"A&E visit Grantham"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Over 4 hours to leave with no proper pain medication, I was refused an icepack which I asked for as I had no access to ice to eleiviate my injury, I was not given a support for my injury, I was not allowed to take a copy of my record for injury/treatment despite requesting it. Having been to my gp today I have been given the stronger pain medication AND a support to wear. I was on my own and got no help to the toilet during the time, there were no staff checking on anyone. I was put in a wheel chair on arrival then placed in positions where getting attention was difficult. I ended up hobbling to the toilet and a caring father was kind enough to bring the wheel chair over for me and take me back. Disgusted.

I eventually got an xray, then had to wait 40 minutes for the result. The doctor finally came out and told me it wasn't broken, that I'd get crutches. He disappeared and 20 minutes later I'd had enough of waiting (it was well after midnight by this point) knocked on door and said the doctor said he was getting me crutches and disappeared. A nurse then called my name and was trying to refuse to give me the crutches because I manged to walk. Which was causing me severe pain and was making me feel sick but I'd reached the end of my tether especially after he just disappeared. I managed to get the crutches then got sternly reminded that If I didn't return them to that hospital that I would be charged! I think this is a disgrace! I do not live in grantham and was only visiting and I felt that to be spoken to in such a way was just disgusting. I was in tears by this point and they just didn't have the time of day for me. My ankle swelled to twice the size because I wasn't given any way to raise it whilst stuck in my chair...
