"Not happy with antenatal receptionists!"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

I am happy with the A&E staff and the receptionists greets you with a warm welcome :). However, antenatal receptionist attitides are apalling (midwifes are co-operative but someimes their timekeeping is very poor and i fiNd this abit fustrating. I had a stillbirth 2 years ago and at the time I feel they did not have any time or empathy towards pregnant women who are left waiting. I understand this is a busy hospital but sometimes the staff especially the admin staffs are quite rude to the patients and this particular lazy recepionist who always put their head down when they know there are patients ahead waiting at the desk queing and expects us to approach. I had left a feedback last time after my stillbirth and I hope that the hospital would have retrained their receptionist staff for a better customer service. Fast forward two years on, the receptionist is still there and their attitide is even more worse. They clearly saw patiets waiting and said to their colleque i can't deal with this now this is my lunch break time then left us i found this so rude and distressing that they actually said it in fromt of patients as for someone like mysel who works for nhs i can observe other workers who are not doing their jobs properly as yoi should putting your patient first not your lunch break. I am giving this hospital another chance if nkthibg has improved then i will consider goig private i am not goig to be stressed out over poor staffs and put stress on this baby the last thing i want is neglect from the hospital and another loss! please sort your antenatal receptionists staff out as they are the first point of contact! if they are not happy then they should not be working in an atmosphere where they cannot cooperate!

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

I am the head of midwifery g.slevin@nhs.net and you are correct that our antenatal receptionists should treat women with care and empathy and a positive approach.

I am sorry for your loss and fully understand how important it is to you to feel that staff are approachable, that they will listen and talk with you throughout your pregnancy. I would welcome an email from you to ensure your appointments and any questions you have are answered fully.
