My wife is disabled and suffering with early dementia, and I am her carer, so I wanted to prepare for the inevitable situation when I could no longer give her the care needed. We will not be able to afford for her to be taken into a Care Home for as long as I would like her to live, so I discovered NHS Continuing Health Care and started the process of applying. That in itself is a daunting task!
As it is surely a common situation which carers would require confirmation of the result of their claim quickly so as to make other arrangements if necessary, I am dismayed by the length of time it is taking for me to get anything other than acknowledgement of my claim.
Surely it should be possible to make a preliminary assessment within a few weeks?
