"A tale of 2 hospitals"

About: County Hospital (Stafford)

Dad was admitted conscious and lucud on a saturday with a suspected chest infection. Treatment in A&E and thenAMU the following day were superb. Dad was sebt to ward 12 on Sunday. Everything you would have feared at Stafford and worse.

It started badly....3 complaints because his drip wasnt working, finally solved by a passing doctor who turned the machine on. The ward was run by a nurse who was run off their feet and a hiodge potch of incredibly awful carers and other cover/agency staff. I dont recall dad seeing a doctor on sunday. Dads antibiotixs continued but his condition worsened. On bank holiday monday the story was the same. Poor care, bordering on abuse of some patients, , the ward run by a nurse. Dads condition worsened

We asked if he could see a doctor and was told there were none at work and he wouldnt be seen until the tuesday. Dads condition worsened. Tuesday the ward was assumedly back to normal with lots more staff, sisters, doctors. In the afternoon dad saw a fantastic doctor who desperately tried to help dad who was by now very poorly. He stopped hours after his time to try and help him. Thank you. 12 30am tuesday we received a call to go to hospital as dads lungs were failing. He was transferred to CCU and received fantastic care. He was helped with his breathing and a bleed identified which has resulted in transferr to Stole for further treatment by their critical care team. How can treatment be so fantastic and so awful in the same hospital? His care on ward 12 on the sunday and monday was abysmal, and the loss of those 2 days may prove critical. I hope someone, somewhere reads this review and looks into the issues it raises.
