"Gender clinic problems"

My own story goes back over the last three years. During that time I have been referred across different areas of mental health services, then to Nottingham Centre for Gender Disphoria from where I was discharged back to mental health services again and have had to make my case for a referral back to the Gender Clinic again. I have now been on a waiting list for almost a year and have ended up self-medicating which I am aware is at risk to my health. But in view of the way I was treated there before, the whole situation has just added to my anxiety problems. I have been on anti-depressants throughout this time and have changed medication several times as have yet to find medication that helps. I feel that i have been treat appallingly and am concerned that the way I have been treated is having on state of health.

I am sorry to hear that your health has deteriorated and that you are experiencing anxiety problems.

If you are feeling distressed then I would advise you to see your GP for help and support as the clinic is unable to provide an urgent response.

The demand for The Nottingham Gender Clinic has increased significantly but the service does notcurrently have the resources to be able to see patients more quickly. We are talking to our comissioners, NHS England, about this issue.

It is extremely difficult to predict how long people will have to wait because there are so many factors that impact on waiting times.
