"111 Service Excellence"

About: NHS 111

(as a relative),

My partner was feeling unwell and rang 111 for advice, giving all symptoms of vomiting/ flu but only neglecting to mention that he felt pain in his chest, running down his left arm (silly man! ).

The caller's expert questionings brought out this information and immediately referred to a nurse to triage on the phone. She advised calling an ambulance straight away; however my partner insisted multiple times that it was not necessary as he is only 30 years old and that he could take the tube / taxi to A&E.

The 111 caller overrode his concerns and called the ambulance; likely saving his life as he was admitted to CDU with infection in his heart. My partner stated that he was a typical "stoic person" and made things difficult for caller to call the ambulance.

Many many thanks to the 111 caller for their knowledge and expertise
