"I was admitted for day surgery. ..."

About: Derriford Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted for day surgery. The ward was nice. The staff helpfull and efficient. The orthopeadic spec was extremly helpful.

I found the whole experience was a good one.

What could be improved

Having to sit in a little waiting room with lots of other people squashed in waiting for day surgery.

Patients stood in the front entrance attached to drips smoking. I know this isnt the hospitals fault but the no smoking policy should be enforced by security.

Anything else?

The care i recieved from the theatre staff was brilliant. The orderly who escorted me to theatre was really kind, and the staff who sedated me were really nice.

The nursing staff who looked after me after the op including the physio were absolutly brilliant. The ward was clean. Nothing was to much trouble

I get annoyed when i read some peoples comments about derriford. This is a hospital not a hotel. If you have time to inspect how much dust is on a door frame then you should be questioning how ill you actually are to care that much.
