Recently my 91yo mother had cause to spend a few days on d3.
I have been in touch with PALS over a couple of points. However these were just forwarded to the ward sister who`s hands are probably tied on these issues.
First and foremost there was another patient who appeared to have severe mental health problems.
She would scream and shout, at times constantly, disrupting the ward. That includes staff, patients and visitors
Im all for community integration but this was intolerable, how was this allowed to happen, up to 6 weeks at that point?
A not disimilar situation again causing disruption is visitors, and lots of them, crowding round a patient until nearly midnight. We and other visitors were respectful of the visitor rules, why then were "certain" ones allowed to get away with this behaviour.
Our mother quite enjoyed and certainly appreciated the care and attention she received whilst on the ward but was on the verge of having to sign herself out because of these issues.
These problems need addressing by management.
