"Amazing hospital"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

Having had reservations on the location of this hospital to where we live in Hexham I had become quite negative at the situation in Northumberland with regards to emergency care. Twice I've been admitted in 2 wks with gastro problems and the care was 2nd to none amazing staff in every department very clean very professional I felt safe and very well looked after . So thank you it's just a shame it's so far away

Dear Ms Carson,

Thank you for your review. I was naturally pleased to hear about the great care you received at The Northumbria hospital. I will be certain to pass this on to our team- who will be delighted.

Our decision to radically resign our emergency care model was born out of a commitment to deliver excellence for patients and ensure rapid access to diagnostics and consultant medical staff.

We know there is just no way we could continue to offer this level of support on all three hospital sites, especially given the increase in activity in 2015/16.

Please be assured that while The Northumbria hospital provides care for serious medical emergencies, your local Hexham hospital also offers urgent care services for minor ailments 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Although emergency care has changed across Northumberland and North Tyneside we know how important is it to keep services as local as possible. Our teams at both Hexham and The Northumbria hospital are always on-hand should you need them, if you’re in any doubt as to where to go for help please call 111 or take a look at these handy leaflets on our website: https://www.northumbria.nhs.uk/emergency/where-go-help.

Kind regards,

Annie
