"Chichester hospital experience"

About: St Richard's Hospital

Maternity department staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, from reception staff to consultants. Having everything you need in my building is especially comforting and for both reasons I choose to have my 1st baby at Chichester. Induction went well and the midwife kept me informed all the way through, I felt very at ease and relaxed. Unfortunately I can not say the same when I was moved down to the ward. I felt alone an inconvenience and a burden on 1 particular midwife, I needed reassurance of what I was feeling was normal and to be treated as an individual, instead I used googled! I had the door shut in my face twice and told to go back to my bed, an hour later I was seen to and a monitor put on. Things soon changed once the midwife realised how serious my contractions were. The consultant on that evening was amazing, they were direct, informative, caring and made the whole experience relaxing!!! My baby and i's aftercare was very good and my experience was very different to the beginning, and for this reason I would recommend snd use myself again, I would urge others to pursue and don't let themselves be treated in that way, don't allow others to make you feel silly everyone is very different. Having a baby for the first time should be a wonderful experience and be a lovely memory.

Dear Leanne, Thank you for feeding back on your experience at St Richards.

We are happy to hear that your experience was good overall but are sorry that you did not feel supported whilst on the ante natal/post natal ward.

If you would like to discuss your experience further please do contact us through our PALS department on PALSChichester@wsht.nhs.uk or by telephone 01243 831822.
