"further information re the review of last week"

About: Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital

I’d just like to clarify three things about my original review of Woodthorpe

1. The response from the GP in seeing me within 12 hours of being shown the door with my pre-op incomplete was superb.

They also saw me as soon as possible after the bank holiday because they realised the situation I was in with the level of pain and the inability to work.

My specialist had already noted the rapidity of the deterioration and the level of pain and resultant lameness in my walking. I had already waited over-long because the injection administered late January failed to relieve the pain but 12 weeks had to pass to operate because of infection risk.

2. I had self-tested for blood pressure and taken heart pills for 11 days between my original pre-op and getting back to the hospital on May 3

3. Why could not a provisional operation date be given by the anaesthetist?

This would have continued to give direction and purpose and something to plan around.

May 20th I see them, but I have still no idea when my operation, due April 30, then May 4th and now will be?

The criticism is simply down to the fact that someone cancelled the operation but no one seems to understand the pain, stress and hardship caused for a self-employed person who cannot plan his work-life future at all, and whose routine work is so agonisingly painful now. It just seems that the recovery pathway has stalled so nothing is on the table any more. Surely a proposed operation date can be given - even if dependent on the April 20 pre-op?
