"Shoulder resurfacing operation"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

Just over a week ago I went in to QEQM and had my shoulder replacement operation done I was in Quex ward for

One night as I feel very well and had a lot of help at home

I did at first have a lot of pain tand was put on the morphine machine and it subsided and all my initial pain from the shoulder had gone so I'm just left with the bruising quite severe of the arm and hand to recover from and all will be well

I take painkillers at regular intervals and eating and drinking normally walking and very gentle and exercises so far so good and I have a check up in a weeks time and my clips taken out

Nine months ago I was also in Quex ward having a new hip and that is also going well and I highly recommend that ward and its staff and the wonderful surgeons , & anaesthetists and registrars

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your operation.

I am sorry to hear that you suffered so much pain after it, but glad to note that the pain was brought under control.

We always try to ensure that patients are not in pain.

I was sorry to hear about the bruising too; shoulder operations can be quite tricky, but hopefully the bruising will subside quickly.

It seems as if the gentle exercise you are taking is having the desired effect.

Thank you also for letting us know about your successful hip operation and for your kind comments about the staff on Quex ward.
