"Very good A&E but pour fracture clinic..."

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

Last week I attended A&E at the usual busiest time and also during junior doctor strikes... When I got there I was seen by an F2 (Junior Doctor) who was really nice and diagnosed issue really quickly without an x-ray but did one anyways to confirm. The issue was that the hardware (screws) in my knee are too long and are causing discomfort to the surrounding tissue. They then referred me back to the consultant that did the op with an appointment the week after A&E (Today).

Outpatients were very busy today and took an hour to get seen by my consultant from the time of the appointment this was down to many factors one including my name disappearing from the screen and system spontaneously. When I eventually got to see the consultant it wasn't the consultant that did the op but they did help and talk through the pros and cons of having the screws out it was just a bit of a nuisance as got to wait now to see the consultant who did the op so more waiting... But the helpful nurse did try their best looking for a much sooner appointment...

Response from Royal Surrey County Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, which is always gratefully received. I am pleased to read that you were seen and quickly diagnosed in A&E, despite the industrial action. However, I note the lengthy wait that you experienced when visiting our outpatients clinic the following week. I apologise if technical issues delayed the appointment further and understand how frustrating this must have been. Here at Royal Surrey County Hospital we strive to provide the best care anywhere and I am disappointed that we appear not to have delivered that on this occasion. If you would like us to look into this further please could you email rsc-tr.communications@nhs.net. In the meantime, all of your comments have been passed to the relevant departments. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your views.
