"Delay after delay"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Do not expect anything to move quickly - even the emergency situations.

My GP referred me to the neurology department in August 2015 with saddle numbness and pins and needles. I was not seen until January 2016. I was only seen so early because I managed to get a cancellation.

In January 2016, I had to wait 2 full days in the hospital to have an MRI scan of my lumbar spine. I was not spoken to during my wait. Cauda equina syndrome was suspected, which is why I was put forward for the scan. Luckily, I did not have this condition. If I had, I undoubtedly would have been left with long-term debilitating symptoms because of the delay.

Between then and now (May 2016) I have only had 1 further test - an evoked potential test. It took over 6 weeks to give me the results from this. I am still left undiagnosed.
