I'll deal with the only down-side first - cancellations.
What with changes due to doctors' strike and unexpectedly high intakes through A&E resulting in no beds available, my surgery finally took place on the 5th date I had been given.
Apart from that, everything was fantastic!
Initial consultation was thorough and pre-admission tests and info day was well structured and informative.
There was always the feeling that everyone from the consultant to admin staff had plenty of time for you.
No rush, plenty of opportunity for discussion and decision-making.
On the day of the final operation, again not a lot of stress, just plenty of time taken and good conversations with anaesthtists and surgeon.
Everyone seemed very professional and competent.
The operation itself went very smoothly and I came round to smiling faces in the operating theatre and then the recovery room.
All the staff involved were superb.
Once on the small ward bay, again everything was very good.
Staff were exceptionally attentive and available when needed, food was excellent.
I was discharged less than 48 hours after the operation and was able to walk to the car.
The success of the replacement has been outstanding.
I was able to dispose of the sticks after 5 days and was able to return to full activities without so much as a slight limp within 5 weeks, including driving and walking my dogs 3+ miles every day!
I cannot praise the hospital and staff enough.
Highly recommended to all!
"Outstanding success"
