"The reception staff were lovely ..."

About: North Manchester General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The reception staff were lovely and the two nurses that dealt with me were fabulous. The nurse on the ward was welcoming and checked I was okay. The nurse practitioner was lovely. The nurse practitioner explained everything and put my mind at ease. The nurse practitioner explained the medication I was prescribed and was just so kind.

What could be improved

The Doctor that I eventually saw was rude and abrupt. The Doctor made me feel like a time waster and spoke to me in the most patronizing manner. The Doctor didn't discuss anything with me but told me what was happening and when I expressed concern about what the Doctor was prescribing for me, the Doctor looked furious. The Doctor never actually talked to me about my headaches, but made the decision based on my notes and treated me in a way that made me feel 'silly' and extremely uncomfortable.

Anything else?

I was sent to ward H4 by my gp. After 4 weeks of persistant headaches and wanted to check they were just caused by stress and nothing more sinister such as an aneurism. Needless to say I was very upset and worried when I arrived but the nursing staff really calmed me down. What a shame the doctor that dealt with me didn't show me the same courtesy.
