"Stagnating in the so called 'Integrated Discharge Unit'"

Father has now been stagnating in the so called 'Integrated Discharge Unit' (a contradiction if ever there was one) for almost 2 weeks. He is stuck in a single room with no tv and only the transistor radio we have provided for company. He is awaiting a bed in our local Cottage Hospital which, I appreciate is not within the direct control of Treliske.

What really frustrates me is that 2 weeks ago his consultant said he now needed to be moved to a cottage hospital for physio, rehab and for his adjusted meds to be assessed and 'fine tuned'. But in Wheal Agar, none of this has happened - according to the staff I spoke with because this is a nurse led ward with no doctors and the nurse practitioner is on leave. He has been waiting 5 days to see a doctor about correcting his meds - in a hospital!

The ward manager is clearly trying her best.  Ultimately, my father is at the end of an 8-week hospital stay, the past 2 weeks of which should have been purely rehabilitation and recuperation from his operation. Instead, his physical health has stagnated and his mental state deteriorated considerably because the ward has neither the capacity, facilities or appropriate staff at their disposal to ensure his recovery continues pending his move to something more appropriate.
