Dear Bertie,

Thank you for your interest in the Ownership Programme.

I have posted details below about the Ownership Programme in Central Lancashire:

What is the Ownership Programme in NHS Central Lancashire?

• The NHS belongs to everyone; it is a public service used and paid for by through our taxes. Because of this, the NHS must share more information, power and responsibility with everyone.

• The Ownership Programme is a new way to put patients and the public at the heart of local health services.

• Views and opinions, expressed as part of the Programme, will help NHS Central Lancashire make sure people get the services they need and want to use in the future.

Who can join the programme?

• Everyone who lives or works in central Lancashire - Preston, Chorley, South Ribble or West Lancashire and their surrounding areas.

• Anyone who is, or has been, a patient in central Lancashire.

• Partner organisations, community groups, voluntary organisations etc.

• NHS Central Lancashire staff.

Why get involved?

• Members will get information about local health services and broader health issues that might help them and their family.

• Members will find out how and why decisions are made about their health services.

• People who can’t attend meetings will be able to get their voices and opinions heard and if you want to, you can get more involved.

Members receive:

• Lots of opportunities and details of how to get more involved in health and healthcare decision making. For example, you could:

o Attend focus groups to look at issues in more detail

o Join task groups to work with PCT staff

o Complete health-related surveys

o Answer questionnaires

o Join the Ownership Congress

• A membership pack.

• Regular newsletters and bulletins about local health services and healthcare issues.

• Benefits from schemes like, NHS Discounts and NHS247 Discounts or local EPONA Health Clubs.

• The Congress is made up from members of the Ownership Programme. It will collect every member’s views about the issues of the moment.

• We will then take all these views into consideration when making decisions about health and healthcare services in central Lancashire.
