"Very happy with service and would recommend to..."

About: Southmead Hospital

My partner and I visited southmead CDS yesterday 27/04/16 quantock ward. This was after I had called for some advice regarding some pain I was having in my tummy. The person I spoke to on the phone was extremely reassuring and asked me to go in and be checked over to be sure.

When we arrived, the staff were lovely. All with smiles on their faces, offering us a drink and told us to make ourselves comfortable in the waiting room.

After a little while we were called by a midwife.

Straight away, they were so welcoming, they sensed how nervous I was with this being my first baby and explained what tests were going to be carried out.

This may seem irrelevant but I thought it would be worth mentioning. Whilst waiting, another member of staff in grey scrubs was cleaning the ward. They made sure that it was spotless! No patch was left untouched.

All in all we were there for around 5 hours.

The appropriate tests were carried out, bloods, urine sample, a check if my cervix, blood pressure and a check if the baby's heartbeat. The results all came back and luckily all was ok.

Being a first time mum and naturally a very nervous person this whole experience was surprisingly a breeze for me.

I left with no obvious explanation for the pain but was told I could stay the night if needed and to call back if I had any worries at all.

If it wasn't for the lovely, caring and extremely friendly staff on shift that night I think it would have been a completely different story.

I really hope that they get the opportunity to read this and id like to thank them for their patience and kind natures.

I hope that they're on shift when I actually have my baby.

Dear Anonymous - thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your experience and thanks to the midwifery team on Quantock Ward. I was very pleased to learn of the excellent and reassuring care you and your partner received during your visit on the 27 April.

As requested your comments have been shared with the directorate managers and the team involved (including the cleaners) so they will be aware of your gratitude and thanks.

May I take this opportunity to wish you well with your pregnancy and extend my best wishes at this exciting time for you both.

Kind regards - Steve Sykes
