"appointments"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

My comments are in relation to the number of times my appointment with the pain clinic has been cancelled and how I have suffered because of this. My first appointment was cancelled due to me having very recently has a tummy but, I phoned and they informed me they would send me another appointment. They they sent me a further three appointments and all three were cancelled, the last one stated that they could not give me another appointment but would contact me when one was available. This has gone on for well over a year, no contact at all regarding a further appointment. These facts are bad enough in themselves but considering during the last appointment that actually took place they totally changed my pain killing medication and commenced me something new, admitting that this was a low dose and that it would most likely be inadequate however this was a starting point, but they would re-access the dosage at my next appointment, which never happened.

So the level of pain I have been in has been unbearable and unmanageable. My gp did as much as they could, but said it was up to the pain clinic. I complained to Pals, who merely forwarded my letter to the Haematology department, which resulted in one of the secretaries phoning me telling me the same as the letters. The number of falls I have had has increased, my quality of life has decreased and I have now had to leave my home and move into a bungalow. This is more that regrettable, it is totally unacceptable. I would add that these comments are about the service being provided, not the staff, I have never had a problem with any member of staff, both physicians and nursing staff.
