"Deep wound to lip and arm"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

A heavy, sharp piece of metal fell on me, almost cutting through my upper lip and a long deep cut to my right arm. I was quickly assessed at A&E, and my arm wound was treated within an hour or so. My lip needed to be treated by a plastic surgeon, who was very busy, so I was seen some time later, but they did an excellent job in aligning and joining up my lip, so that today it is hard to see where the cut was. I am most grateful for the treatment I received at A&E, especially to the plastic surgeon.

Dear Pam Cooper

I was sorry to learn of your accident when a sharp piece of metal fell on you. I am really pleased you were able to access emergency treatment at the Accident & Emergency department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

It is good to know that you were assessed quickly and that your arm wound was treated within an hour, and that your lip injury was dealt with soon after, at what you describe as a busy period for the department.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare staff find it really rewarding when they receive such feedback, especially where they have worked well together to provide patients with a high standard of care, and I will pass on your words of grattitude to the management team for the Accident & Emergency service with a special mention to the plastic surgeon.

We thank you for taking the time to post your comments.
