I came to the A & E department on a Friday teatime, very distressed, in pain inside and out. I had no idea what was wrong with me, or what had caused it. I was treated with great kindness, care and patience. Tests were done, samples taken, with results quickly returned to the medical staff, and many doctors, surgical and other consultants attended to me, in a concerted effort to find out what was going on in my body.
I could not have been better looked after anywhere, in this country, or elsewhere in the world.
I was finally admitted, even though by this time it appeared that there was nothing terribly serious threatening me. A CT scan was not promised for the Saturday, as Emergencies have to take precedence of course, but I was lucky, in that I was called for a CT scan mid morning.
This was clear. My pain had subsided, with medication, and I was advised on managing it for when I got home. The internal symptoms had calmed down, with treatment, and i was allowed to go home that afternoon. But I am going to be kept on the radar, another scan and visits to out-patients clinic.
My husband and daughters had been allowed to be with me, in A & E, which was such a comfort, and the visiting hours are easy, on Littondale Ward, where the staff were kindness itself.
What more can I say about this superb hospital? I feel very privileged to have access to such wonderful care. Thank you all for looking after me so well, when i felt that perhaps I was wasting your time. But you gave me your best-----and there is no better.
"Truly excellent hospital, wonderful dedicated..."
