"appaulling care lack of"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

I have ms iv not seen my neurologist in nearly 2 years I recieve an appointment but everytime it is cancelled another appointment is given a year ahead this has happend several times.

I have got worse over last 18 months id tried contacting secretary as well as my GPs with no avail. My care has had to be my GP who referred me for re assessment as id been so poorly i saw a neurologist who doesn't know me to tell me i hadnt got worse yet iv got to the stage i hardly venture out im so fatigued. I found the Dr rude intimidating literally waved off all i was trying to speak about. That day i felt like just a number. I was informed i have secondry progressive ms which id never been told. I bacame stressed upset while with the Dr and cried when i got out. I would not see this doctor if he was the last Neurologist left. Harsh bed side manner and it appeared he wasn't intrested in listening. At no point while having ms for many years have i ever been offered treatment only certain pain medication and other trial and error medication. I would rather now have an option to choose another neurologist and consultant as i cant get an appointment anyway. This has caused me and my grown up children so much upset to If its ok.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience in our Neurology department.

I was very sorry to hear about your concerns, and I apologise for the delays and cancellations which you have faced while trying to make an appointment for your MS.

I would also like to apologise for your previous experience during a Neurology assessment.

I was disappointed to hear that you felt the doctor you saw during your previous visit was not listening to your concerns and lacked compassion.

These are not the standards to which we aim for, and so I encourage you to send further details to the contacts below so it can be investigated.

I have passed your comments onto the Neurology team.

However, if you would like to discuss any aspects of your care further, then please contact the Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 028 4203.
