From the moment I arrived at the Duchy Hospital, I was treated with pleasantness. I was collected from the waiting area by a nurse who, it transpired, would be looking after me for the rest of my stay. EVERYONE was kind and patient. I was treated with dignity and respect. I was involved with everything that was happening to me.
A few days prior to my admission I was telephoned, at home, by one of the nurses who explained all that would be happening to me on my admission. I was given the opportunity to ask questions. This helped to alleviate any anxiety I may have felt and afforded me the opportunity to explain things to my family, thus keeping them "in the loop".
The day following my discharge, I was again telephoned by one of the nurses who was checking to see whether I had experienced any adverse reactions to the procedure. This, in my opinion, is the height of caring.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Duchy Hospital to anyone who required medical attention. Pleasantness, Patience, Kindness and Dignity appear to be their by-words. I was treated like a star, despite being in my 70's.
