"My Daughters eating disorder."

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – Inpatient

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was admitted to Thorneywood adolescent unit Nottingham with anorexia, this was to be her 2nd admission, I was pleased she was going there, because we had got to know the staff previously and I knew that they would take care of my daughter, quite honestly if it wasn't for them I know that it would be a completely different story, My daughter had to be sectioned under the mental health act by one of the senior nurses, who made everything clear and under stood not only what my daughter was going through but us as a family as well. During her 10 months there, I have got to know the staff alot better and they fully understand and support and treat the disorder with true profession and care, its, been a long struggle and I could keep typing all night, but I want to thank each and every member of staff for the work they do every single day.

Dear Dmmm,

Thank you for taking the time to post your story. I am pleased to note that the experience on the Thorneywood Adolescent Unit was a positive one for both you and your daughter. It is always difficult when somebody has to be sectioned under the Mental Health Act and I am very pleased to hear that the staff were sensitive to your needs as a family at what can be a very distressing time.

I will feedback your comments to the team as we do take feedback both positive and negative very seriously. I wish your daughter well in her recovery and you too as family. Once again thank you for taking the time to share your story.

Thankyou for your response to my story.

My daughter is doing really well and was discharged yesterday. We have a long road to travel to full recovery, but with the help we have received from Thorneywood, it has set her on her way.
