"care on the ward"

About: Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

the care my husband received on the ward during his last admitance was not good some nurses were good but few and rushed some were indifferent some were very poor there was lack of communication ,when asking what was going on it was hard to find out for my husband let alone myself we were made to feel a nucience .Lack of dignity eg asking in a very loud voice "Do you want to open your bowels" and not closing curtains fully. Lack of basic care, not getting adquate nutrition nor was it monitored There seemed to be no compassion, no kind words my husband was dying but although I knew he was very ill the word end stage was not mentioned to me in any way the nursing staff must have known .His final discharge was not good although I wasnt there I had left clothes for the staff to dress him in but he came home in a dirty hospital gown no socks or slippers The ambulance staff kindly gave him a blanket .The wrong information by the Occupational Therapy lead to a lack of an expected Package of Care [reason we could have a discharge ]

It was only thanks to the wonderful district nurses (who actually only came to change dressings) and completely took over

I was able to cope .He died 3 days later.
