"Frustrations with Diabetic Clinic"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Diabetic medicine

(as a relative),

Yet again another frustrating two part appointment at the diabetic clinic.

Why is there always an hour wait between seeing the nurse and then seeing the consultant? Surely the time you see the nurse should be governed by when you see the consultant. And to add insult to injury at least 2 people who saw the nurse after us saw a consultant first.

And this seems to happen every single time.

Dear Bill121212

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent experience in the Diabetes Clinic at Heartlands Hospital Birmingham.

I am sorry to read that you have had a frustrating time waiting to be seen and also that you feel other patients who arrive after you are seen in front of you.

I would very much like to look into your experience in more detail and would like to speak with you to gain some more information. I can be contacted on 0121 424 0808 or by email: marie.helebert@nhs.net.

In the meantime, I am highlighting your post to Maureen Paul, Matron for Diabetes, as well as Dr Sri Bellary, Clinical Director for Diabetes for their further advice.

I hope this is acceptable and look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

Once again thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, patient views and experience is most important to us as it enables us to identify issues that may not contribute to a positive patient experience and allow us to make changes to improve, equally it helps to know what services and systems are working well.

With kind regards

Marie Helebert
