I came to A&E with my 5 month old son following an accident. The receptionist made a misguided joke about their daughter having had a similar accident, and that's "why she is the way she is" - it was well-meaning, but certainly not what a worried young mum wants to hear. In and out within 2 hours - fine, however when I went to change my baby the changing table was filthy, clearly from not being cleaned thoroughly in a long time. I wouldn't have put my baby on it if I didn't have my own mat. When we got to see a doctor, I was disgusted to notice their nails had brown and black dirt underneath them - this doctor is in charge of examining my baby and countless other patients; God knows what was harbouring under those nails!! This is definitely not the standard I would expect from a medical professional, and the changing facilities were very worrying, bringing the hygiene of the whole area into question.
"Dirty!!"
