"3 weeks after an arthroscopy I ..."

About: The Great Western Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

3 weeks after an arthroscopy I woke up in terrible pain. Obviously something had gone wrong but when I rang they told me I had to return to my GP to be referred again. I was in severe pain and almost housebound for 5 months before I had a complete knee replacement. The operation and aftercare was completely impersonal and no one seemed to have a care plan that acknowledged my other medical problems.

Anything else?

Once you walk out the door they seem to wash their hands of you and you have to go through the whole referal process again. There is no immediate aftercare.
