"Late cancellation of appointment"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 11b)

(as the patient),

I received an appointment for the ENT Dept for today at 11 am. I left the house in plenty of time, but I could not get a parking space due to construction work still going on and blocked off some of the parking spaces, I arrived at ENT Dept 10 mins late only to be told they tried to call me this morning to cancel my appointment as there was another 1 for May. So, they cancelled this one instead of the May one plus, the Victoria Hospital is 5 min away from my home and I have been going there for years to that dept. I am 72 and cant walk very far. I had to park 15 min away from the main entrance to the Q. E. U. H. Where do they get these ideas. Are they trying to kill off the elderly?

Dear Painful pensioner

Thank you for sharing your recent experience on Patient Opinion. I am sorry that you have experienced issues with both our appointments department and parking at the QEUH.

Firstly, we are aware of the issues surrounding parking at the QEUH and I will pass your feedback onto our Facilities team. I appreciate how frustrating this must have been for you to find a parking space and then to have to walk some distance to get to your appointment.

I am also sorry that you had to travel the distance to the QEUH only to find out that your appointment had been cancelled and your journey was unnecessary. At the time the appointment for the QEUH was made, it could have been that you would have been seen sooner than the next available appointment at the New Victoria ACH. Again, I will pass your feedback onto our Appointments team.

Best wishes

Lisa
