The staff in this department need training in mental health and particularly personality disorders. They continue to treat me with disgust and disdain when I present due to self harm or have made a suicidal gesture.
They take such a short-sighted ignorant view of me based entirely on my outward presentation and take no consideration of my severe emotional and social problems and crippling loneliness which leads me to reach out to services.
Nursing is a caring profession yet I am never shown any care or understanding. They often try to interrogate you and suggest that by not actually committing suicide you are wasting time. This view is utterly inhumane and frankly sickening.
When you are desperate and vulnerable and you haven't got anyone you reach out to services to help, yet the staff show no understanding of this and continue to be passive aggressive and rude towards me.
I now regularly travel to another department which provides me with much better service, Darlington A&E could learn a lot from A&E at North Tees Hospital, Stockton on Tees.
"Total ignorance towards mental health in this..."
