"Liver resection"

About: Churchill Hospital

On the 4/1/16 i was admitted to hospital where it turned out i had liver cancer...5 weeks to the day i had a liver resection to remove the cancer. I spent 5 days on HDU after some complications the staff where brilliant also the housekeeping staff went above and beyond the call off duty, feeding and giving me my drinks they where all very helpful on HDU...then i was transfered to upper GI.This ward was excellent through and through, spotless and all staff where again fantastic. My 1 grievance was there are to little nurse's for all the patients and too many HCA's.On too many occasions myself and other patients where left far too long for pain meds because the nurse in charge of you was to busy to be with you at that time..this however is not the nurses fault but to spread the nurses out with to may patients is an Admin error not the nursing staff...on the occasions when i was left for to long and in pain the HCA's would come turn of your buzzer and say i will tell your nurse, again this is not helpful there needs to be a nurse that covers for all patients when there nurse is busy...as alot of the time the HCA's where left doing nothing because they cant really do anything with the patient.Again this is an admin error not the staffs. The housekeeping staff where excellent at all times they where helpful all of the time kept the ward spotless and helped in any way they could A big thumbs up to you guys x. On one of the mornings at 5am i was sat in the day room crying and felt really low when in came the supervisor of housekeeping and saw me, they made me a cuppa tea and then just stayed with me listening to me and talking at no point did they try and leave or rush off (they must have had a million things to do)after about an hr(yes an hr) once they saw i was feeling better in myself did they make a move to continue with their daily job, for that i will always be grateful yet again they went above and beyond like the staff....All in all i had an excellent stay (if you can call it that) i would recommend anyone to the churchill with there life saving surgeons to all the staff on every level Well done.
