"Excellent treatment in AMU"

About: Good Hope Hospital

Brilliant GP home visit - Sutton Park Surgery, spot on diagnosis of patient needs resulted in short wait for excellent ambulance crew from Walsall.

Despite it being during the Doctor's strike, when taken in to GHH AMU where all staff worked superbly on my care.

Especially the doctor who saw me late at night and treated me with great dignity and listened to me and included me in the decision making as it happened.

Considering it was late at night, CT and portering staff gave superb service.

All AMU staff acted as a team and were very patient centred. Consultant care throughout was superbly courteous and again patient centred.

In fact my husband mentioned the next day that if it had not been for the lack of junior doctors on the picket line at GHH we cannot say they were missed such was the superb service in their absence.

However, the cleaning on the AMU ward was hit and miss and dirty towels I used were left in the uncleaned shower after my use for many hours and even when I was discharged. Otherwise it would have been five stars for cleaning.

Dear Elizabeth Peers

thank you for taking the time to provide your comments about your experience in AMU at Good Hope Hospital.

I am so pleased to read that on arrival you found all of the staff involved in your care to be kind, treated you with dignity, involved you in the decison making as it happened about your treatment and that the staff acted as a team throughout and provided excellent patient-centred care. This is our ultimate aim for every patient in our trust.

I will be delighted to forward your comments to Neil Mallett, Matron for AMU at Good Hope Hospital as well as Catherine Hulley, Clinical Director for Acute Medicine who will be thrilled to read your feedback and ensure that it is communicated to all of the AMU team.

I do hope that you are continuing to recover well and thank you once again for providing your feedback. Patient experience is extremely important to us.

Kind regards

Marie Helebert
