"Incompetent"

About: Lister Hospital

Daughter had appointment on 8th February and was seen by a junior doctor who basically agreed with everything the dentist had said. Booked her in for extraction and told me to take the form to treatment centre and the procedure would be done as an urgent so 6-8 weeks wait. After 7 weeks of hearing nothing phoned treatment centre who advised that consultant had ticked routine and not urgent so she wouldn't be seen for 18 weeks! Informed them that this was incorrect but nothing they could do and told me to contact oral department to get this changed. Phoned oral department got through to rude secretary who said that their computer was down but would get this sorted as soon as system was up and running. Week later phoned again to treatment centre who said still the form hadn't been changed. Basically after several phone calls I eventually had to go down to oral department and threaten not to leave until the form had been changed and then took it over to treatment centre myself. Complaint has been submitted also as this is complete incompetence and the fact that a child was left in pain while they argued over a box that was incorrectly ticked is disgusting.

Also found out that secretary I spoke to whose computer went down is in fact on holiday so they clearly don't care that they haven't bothered to do their job properly and left me doing their job for them.

You're clearly very unhappy with this experience, for which we are very sorry.

We can see that you have made a formal complaint, which is exactly the right thing to do - the lesson here is about taking responsibility to correct mistakes quickly and with no extra burden placed on patients.
